Bristol Bar, Paston Place, Kemp Town
Hosts: Judith & Rick Turrell
Mike says; "My favourite for real ale!"
The Bristol was originally the bar of The Bristol Hotel which was built prior to 1835, the hotel itself being part of the Bristol Estate. The Bristol is a large public house on the seafront offering excellent seaviews. It is well laid out with several snugs where private conversation is possible and usual. It has polished wooden floors and a strong nautical theme including the bust from a vessel. The main bar is light and airy. The Bristol is female friendly and has stacks of good magazines which are always available to read. As Dave (our photographer) pointed out, "You have the feel of being a resident not a punter." The second bar is an American style bar gaily decorated incorporating a pool table. Both bars are full of friendly locals.
The Bristol has on draught London Pride (real ale), Harvey's Best (real ale), Guinness, Tennants, Grolsch, Blackthorn Cider and Bass (real ale). The beers are kept in an excellent condition. In addition to the beer, The Bristol has a very well stocked top shelf.
Hot and cold food is on offer seven days a week. The Bristol has an extensive menu catering for all food tastes.
