The Hand In Hand is a very popular pub in the middle of Kemp Town. The Hand houses Kemp Towns only brewery with all the ales produced on the premises. In additoin to being sold in The Hand, its brews are sold at several pubs in and around Brighton. In 1995 The Hand In Hand won CAMRA award for being the South Downs pub of the year. The Hand is a compact pub with a good ambience. It is tastfully furnished and decorated. Some of its more unusual decorations are the Pictures of nude ladies from the early 1900's on the ceiling and wallpaper comprising of old newspapers. The Hand has a wide and varied clientele with the yatching community in strong evidence. For the lovers of real ales, this is your pub.

The Hand In Hand has a large number of ales including Ye Olde Trout (real ale), Budget Bitter (real ale), Kemp Town Bitter (real ale), Staggering In The Dark(real ale), "Guest beers" Badgers Best (real ale), Tanglefoot (real ale), Hacker Pschorr (Wheat beer brewed in Munich), Bibbenden Cider (real cider), Stowfold Press Cider, Fosters, Guinness, and Munich Pilsner. All the beers tried were in excellent condition.

The Hand in Hand has a full menu offering food from 12.00-15.00 Mon-Fri, Saturday and Sunday 12.00-17.00. The Hand also offers an all day breakfast, which as the chef says "It takes a hungry person to eat one." All the food is prepared on the premises including the pies and pizza's. The menu has excellent variety catering for all tastes at a reasonable rate.
