The Lion, Upper St James Street, Kemp Town
Hosts: Karen & John
The Lion is a large spacious pub with high ceilings and oak panelling. It has a central bar of rich mahogany, giving a 'C' shaped room. The Lion is a friendly pub with a bubbly and helpful barmaid. It is a locals pub, but they made us feel at home immediately. The Lion has a very large and well laid out beer garden. Like several other pubs in Kemp Town The Lion is involved with several local charities.
The Lion sells John Smiths (real ale), Directors (real ale), Websters (real ale), Guinness, Caffreys, Holsten, Kronenburg, Fosters, and Strongbow. All the beers tried were fine, Paul was impressed with the Caffreys.
